Pokémon TCG 30th Celebration: Futuristic Rares & 30 Pikachu
Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration drops worldwide on 16 September 2026 — the first simultaneously coordinated global launch in the TCG's history (same day worldwide; exact timing may vary by region). Every card including Basic Energy is holofoil, every pack guarantees one of 30 different artist-illustrated Pikachu cards, and a brand-new rarity debuts: the Futuristic Rare (FUR).
What's actually in each booster pack?
Each English pack contains five foil Pokémon or Trainer cards, one foil Basic Energy, and one TCG Live code card. That "six cards per pack" headline counts the Basic Energy — five playable foil cards plus a foil Energy, every time. Japanese packs: six physical cards, no code card.
One of those is always a Pikachu — one of 30 illustrated variants, each by a different artist with a 30th Celebration logo. Three of the 30 artists are confirmed: Atsuko Nishida (one of Pikachu's original designers), Yuu Nishida (first Illustration Grand Prix winner), and OKACHEKE. The other 27 are unannounced.
What is a Futuristic Rare — and who drew them?
Futuristic Rare (FUR) is the second new rarity in the 2026 Mega Evolution block, following Mega Ultra Rare (MUR) from ME01 Ascended Heroes. Every FUR card features vibrant new visuals by YOSHIROTTEN — a Tokyo-based art director primarily known for fashion and music, not trading cards.
Two FUR cards are confirmed: Mewtwo ex FUR (#157/128, 230 HP, Psychic) and Mew ex FUR (#158/128, 160 HP, Psychic). Whether more exist hasn't been officially announced. Snap a photo in CardLoft to identify exactly which Futuristic Rare you pulled.
Which Illustration Rares are confirmed?
Eight Illustration Rares have been revealed via the official trailer and card images:
- Greninja ex #021 (300 HP)
- Espeon #069 — Illustration Rare, daylight scene
- Sylveon ex #071
- Umbreon #091 — Illustration Rare, night scene
- Lapras #131
- Drifloon #136
- Lycanroc #138
- Hisuian Zorua #145
What's the Classic Collection — and are reprints Standard-legal?
Thirty cards from TCG history get a special "30" Pikachu stamp and exclusive foil — distinct from the pack-guaranteed Pikachus. Two reprints are officially confirmed: Base Set Charizard and Pikachu & Zekrom-GX (SM—Team Up, 2019). A reported full list of 30 — "highly likely" per PokeBeach but not individually confirmed — includes Crystal Lugia, Shining Celebi, and 26 others.
Classic Collection cards are NOT Standard-legal — eligible only in formats that allow the original prints. Trade duplicates privately with people you trust through CardLoft.

Frequently asked questions
Is this really the first simultaneous worldwide Pokémon TCG release?
Yes — TPC's press release calls it the first globally coordinated Pokémon TCG launch. The official footnote notes exact timing may vary by country — same day, not the same hour.
Are Classic Collection reprints Standard-legal?
No. Per TPC's official wording, they're not Standard-legal but are eligible in formats that allow the original prints of those cards.
How many Futuristic Rare cards are there?
Two confirmed — Mewtwo ex FUR (#157/128, 230 HP) and Mew ex FUR (#158/128, 160 HP). Whether more FUR cards exist in the set is unconfirmed.
Has English pricing been announced?
Not yet. Japanese packs are ¥360. No English, AU, or EU MSRP has been announced by TPC.
Why is the English set bigger than the Japanese?
TPC folds the Espeon & Umbreon Premium Deck Set into the English numbering, expanding the base from 103 cards (JP) to approximately 128 (EN).
