Travis Head Follow-On Century: 2025-26 Cricket Traders Cards
Travis Head scored 121 off 190 balls in Australia's follow-on innings at Gqeberha on 22 October 2026, becoming the first Australian to score a follow-on century in 38 years. South Africa still won by an innings and 31 runs. Head has four cards in the 2025-26 TGI Cricket Traders International Series set (IS01, IS05, IS10 and IS13), and collectors watching the series have four reasons to care.
What did Head's innings actually look like?
Australia were bowled out for 99 in their first innings, leaving them 326 runs adrift of South Africa's 425 for nine declared. Head came in at number five, ground through 190 balls and reached his century off the 151st. He struck 15 fours, was eventually bowled by Wiaan Mulder for 121, and Australia finished 295 all out.
Why is this record 38 years in the making?
The last Australian to score a century after following on was David Boon, whose 184 not out off 431 balls saved a draw against England at the SCG in January 1988. That was the Bicentennial Test, a standalone commemorative match, not part of an Ashes series.
Australia were forced to follow on just twice in the intervening 38 years (Trent Bridge in 2005, the SCG in 2019) and scored no century in either second innings. Head's 121 stands alone.
Which Travis Head cards are in the 2025-26 TGI Cricket Traders set?
Head has four cards in the 36-card International Series insert set. All four are unnumbered (IS01 is a checklist position, not a stamped serial number), pulling at approximately 1:10 retail packs. Snap a photo to track them all in CardLoft.

Are there parallels to chase?
The International Series insert set carries three parallels across the full 36-card checklist. One thing to flag before you go digging in retail: the IS Gold /100 is exclusive to the 2026-27 TGI Cricket Traders Luxe product and is not found in standard retail packs. Head is expected to feature in Luxe (releasing 1 November 2026), but the checklist has not been published yet.

What does this innings mean for the series?
Australia and South Africa are locked 1-1 heading to Newlands, Cape Town, for the decider from 27 to 31 October 2026. Head's 121 was his first Test century against South Africa, his second overseas (after 163 at The Oval in the 2023 WTC Final), and his 13th Test century overall. It was also, for the record, his first century in a Test Australia lost.
